Position Overview

Plant Management – Full‑time maintenance leadership role located in Havre de Grace, Maryland. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations, managing maintenance budgets, and leading a team of maintenance employees.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Perform on‑site equipment maintenance evaluations with maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical on‑the‑job training for maintenance personnel to improve skills, maintenance, and repair best practices.
• Coordinate with Operations, Central Services, and Engineering for scheduled maintenance and equipment repairs, and lead safety, health, and environmental initiatives.
• Develop and improve equipment support and service to operations.
• Manage and analyze the maintenance department’s budgeting and monthly costs; plan contingency for critical spares.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote safety and ensure all plants have zero accidents and comply with Vulcan policies and procedures.
• Organize and plan maintenance schedules to optimize plant, equipment, and personnel performance.
• Lead employee relations: provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision.
• Collaborate with HR to recruit, evaluate, and develop maintenance staff.
• Monitor process and material quality; implement preventive maintenance to limit downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety, operations, and environmental policies.
• Inspect equipment and coordinate daily maintenance tasks for reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Experience managing and supervising maintenance & production employees at an aggregate, sand/gravel, or asphalt plant (preferred).
• Technical skills across all maintenance areas required.
• Strong leadership and mentorship abilities for direct and indirect reports.
• Operational knowledge of mobile and plant equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles, and project management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, motivation, and team building.
• Financial acumen for leading performance to established targets.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noise.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $82,956 – $119,796 annually (excluding discretionary bonus or equity package).

Rotating Shift Schedule: Four‑day on/ four‑day off schedule at Havre de Grace.

Shift Differential: 15% additional pay for night shift employees.
