NHI – Engineering Avionic Manager & Avionic Committee Chairman (f/m)
NHIndustries is a French SAS company based in Aix-en-Provence, wholly owned by Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo and Fokker Aerostructures. It serves as the focal point for these companies for the NH90 programme, managing the design, development and entry to service of the NH90 for NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) and export customers.
Mission
The Avionic Manager & Avionic Committee Chairman ensures coherent avionics architecture and system integration, and leads industry end‑to‑end development, qualification/certification and implementation processes for related avionics projects. These work packages vary in scope, ranging from the development of a new NH90 variant to product maturity or evolution, correction of non‑compliances, obsolescence management or other engineering projects.
Reporting
The Avionic Manager & Avionic Committee Chairman reports to the Head of Engineering Projects and has an operational reporting line for qualification/certification activities to the Head of Qualification. He/She escalates unresolved issues to the Aircraft Chief Engineer or Programme governance.
Main Responsibilities
- Chair the Avionics Committee and provide technical leadership and arbitration across all avionics domains, ensuring coherent avionics architecture and system integration.
- Validate avionics design choices against contractual requirements, planning, safety and maintainability objectives.
- Ensure coherent avionics system architecture.
- Ensure a global transversal view of all on‑going avionic development activities and associated dependencies between PCs and contracts.
- Act as project manager for the end‑to‑end development, qualification/certification and implementation process on new helicopter variants or in production and the fleet.
- Manage qualification/certification activities, including development and testing within NHI and PCs, and in close coordination with customers and authorities.
- Ensure clear definition and control of development activities, interfaces and change impacts across PCs and suppliers during offer and contract execution phase.
- Chair or participate in technical reviews and milestone gates such as, but not limited to, PDR, CDR, ERM.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Aircraft Chief Engineer or Programme governance.
- Report to Chief Engineering, Programme and Directoire, providing regular status on qualification and engineering development activities in relevant dashboards/KPIs, including identification of critical path, achievements and forecasted milestones as well as risk analysis.
- Manage technical closure of contractual non‑compliances and support Program Management for final closure.
Requirements
Professional Experience
- Senior technical background (avionics systems will be a plus) with strong experience in project management as well as customer relations.
Technical Competencies
- Engineering, helicopter and avionics systems, project management.
- Planning, performance measurement and problem solving.
Soft Skills and Behaviours
- Proven experience with certification/qualification.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional technical decision forums.
- Strong communication and arbitration skills.
Languages
- Negotiation level in English.
- French, German or Italian would be a plus.
Tools and Software
- Strong MS Suite skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project.
