Data Center Operations designs, installs & maintains the world’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure. We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician with a passion for technology to help us expand our Cloud to the next level. This role is a unique opportunity to work in some of the most cutting‑edge data centers in the world. Amazon data centers are large‑scale, high‑density centers where you will be working on changing the face of Cloud technology in the region. The Datacenter Technician may be the primary point of contact for both internal customers (for example: Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Developers, etc.) and external customers (Hardware Vendors, Contractors, Service Providers among others). Key job responsibilities

  • A working understanding of server grade hardware.
  • A basic understanding of networking hardware.
  • Proven experience in problem solving and addressing customer service‑related issues by working with other internal teams toward a shared objective.
  • Safely lift and/or move up to 18 kilograms unassisted; participate in group lifts over 18 kilograms or more in tight and elevated spaces.
  • Local travel within (Paris, Île‑de‑France) Region may be required.
  • Hard drive installation, removal, and destruction; ensuring all media handling policies are followed and updating progress through a web ticketing system. Document daily tasks to ensure business continuity.
  • Unpacking/repacking fragile electronics and relocating/moving of large enterprise equipment.
  • Basic networking equipment removal/installation.
  • Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required.
  • Perform data sanitization on all equipment prior to liquidation or destruction.
  • Perform asset life‑cycle state changes.
  • Perform process improvement. Record data on process inefficiencies and risk then work with supporting teams to eliminate or mitigate issues.
  • Interact with third party vendors & contractors.
  • Data Center Operations Media tech position requires work during business hours.
  • Participate as the data center point of contact for high severity events.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • High school or equivalent diploma.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in IT‑related field or 2+ years of IT‑related field job experience.
  • Demonstrated progressive career growth in technical environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with professional correspondence and writing styles.
  • Proven experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and direct coordination with Management.
  • Experience in root cause identification for basic hardware issues.
  • Meet or exceed Amazon's Leadership Principles through data driven examples.
