Role Summary

We’re looking for a Legal Counsel to join us as the second person in Photoroom’s legal team. Working closely with our Head of Legal, you’ll take full ownership of being a key partner to the sales, growth, tech, and people teams to help them navigate the many laws and regulations impacting their work.

Location & Compensation

Location: Paris-based, 3 days/week in the office. We offer relocation within Europe.

Compensation: €63,000 to €76,000, depending on seniority, plus stock options/BSPCE.

Responsibilities

  • Own commercial contracts end-to-end, draft, review, and negotiate agreements for sales, growth, product, and engineering.
  • Advance GDPR compliance—implement privacy by design, strengthen data treatment register, privacy policy, and IT security routines.
  • Monitor AI regulations, assess impact on machine learning and AI product development.
  • Maintain IP position—manage trademark registrations, domain names, and infringement monitoring.
  • Provide support on corporate, labour, public affairs, and other legal matters as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years legal experience in tech, from a top-tier or tech-focused law firm, in-house counsel at a SaaS startup or scale‑up, or both.
  • Hands‑on exposure to commercial contracts and at least one of GDPR/privacy, IP, or regulatory compliance.
  • Master’s degree in law; bar admission is a plus but not required.
  • Fluent in French and English; drafting, negotiating, and communicating in both languages.
  • Business‑partner mindset—propose workable options, know when clarity beats perfection.
  • Self‑management in an asynchronous, remote‑friendly, fast‑moving environment.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and legal implications, including EU AI Act is desirable.
