Job Details
Role: Solution Architect – focus on enterprise middleware and integration of systems within pharmaceutical, wholesale and/or logistics industry.
Responsibilities
- Design repeatable solutions that enable the desired business outcomes.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and technology providers to define architecture for end‑to‑end solutions across the systems portfolio.
- Ensure fast delivery of standard‑based interfaces aligned to business pipelines, application roadmaps and enterprise architecture guidance.
- Improve speed of delivery using a standards‑based approach to design.
- Create componentised end‑to‑end solution designs to maximise re‑use.
- Ensure that solutions are scalable, sustainable and fully documented.
- Identify opportunities for synergy and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Standardise delivery of architectural artefacts through the PMO process.
- Help define repeatable pattern sets for key use cases.
- Consider current and future technology needs to deliver projects.
Key Competencies
- Develop high‑level solution designs for programmers or projects in collaboration with the presales director, utilizing domain expertise and third‑party solution providers to meet business needs.
- Take a holistic approach, considering business strategic goals, customer pipeline, future state vision, existing IT landscape and portfolio plan.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and become a trusted advisor on technology decisions.
- Work with third‑party providers to evaluate capabilities and identify opportunities.
- Assess suitability of products and services against functional and non‑functional requirements, technology standards and architecture principles.
- Ensure the application portfolio is managed and maintained within the Enterprise Architecture framework.
- Be commercially aware and work with country teams and vendors on pricing and licensing agreements.
- Identify and document application, data, infrastructure and integration requirements.
- Produce high‑level cost estimates in collaboration with project, engineering and test teams.
- Identify potential project pre‑requisites or interdependencies, communicate implications and avoid hard dependencies where possible.
- Work within the Enterprise Architecture Framework, maintaining the repository.
- Analyse current systems portfolio to identify weaknesses and improvement opportunities.
- Review business drivers and strategies to mitigate risks to solutions.
- Communicate design decisions and rationale to business and IT stakeholders.
- Seek design approval through the technical design authority.
- Provide design governance during delivery to ensure integrity and effective change evaluation.
- Develop migration strategies to close gaps between current and future states, prioritising removal of technical debt.
- Champion and communicate application and integration architecture in alignment with business leaders.
- Ensure all solutions meet agreed standards and documentation levels.

Essential – Qualifications and Experience
- Enterprise middleware technology experience for 3PL/4PL in pharmaceutical, wholesale and/or logistics industry.
- Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Minimum 3‑5 years in a solution architecture role focused on integration using middleware.
- Experience with OpenText ECS and Delta.
- Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).
- Experience line‑managing a small team of project‑based architects.
- Senior technical or technical management role experience.
- Experience producing project artefacts and communicating ideas to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Desirable
- Experience with Manhattan Active and Axway technologies.
- Experience with Applicom ERP.
- Experience working within a large multinational matrix organization.
- Ability to foster collaboration and align teams to common ways of working.
- Experience with EA tools such as Hopex, iServer, Planview.
