Data Architect

For an International client based in Strasbourg I am seeking a Data Architect. This is a contract assignment that will run until 2026. The assignment is to be carried out on site at the customer offices in Strasbourg.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end architectural design of a new Data Warehouse from concept to implementation.
• Analyze business and technical requirements to propose optimal data architecture solutions.
• Create and maintain data warehouse schemas and data models (conceptual, logical, and physical).
• Design, plan, and oversee proof of concept (PoC) to validate architectural decisions, technology choices, and data warehouse design approaches.
• Integrate data from multiple source systems and design reliable data pipelines.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, security, scalability, and performance.
• Contribute to future-state data architecture and platform roadmaps.
• Apply and promote industry best practices in data architecture and data platform design.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert and provide senior advisory support to stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and business teams throughout delivery.
• Ensure alignment between architecture, implementation, and operations.
• Document architecture decisions, data models, standards, and best practices.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and assess their applicability to the data strategy.

Skills and Experience

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture or similar data-focused roles.
• Strong expertise in data warehouse design and data modeling.
• Demonstrated deep expertise in ETL/ELT processes, and data pipeline development.
• Hands‑on experience with Airbyte, dbt labs, or comparable open‑source data tools.
• Previous experience working with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift.
• Experience with cloud data warehouse platforms.
• Proven experience integrating data from multiple source systems.
• Experience with architecture modeling tools and methodologies (e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect, ArchiMate, TOGAF).
• Strong understanding of data governance, GDPR, security, and compliance requirements.
