Lead Automation Engineer
Turner Lovell is supporting an international engineering organisation delivering advanced automation and control systems for complex industrial and energy-related projects. As part of its engineering team, our client is looking for a Lead Automation Engin eer to take technical ownership of automation activities across major projects. You will lead automation work packages, coordinate technical teams and contribute to the delivery of sophisticated control systems involving PLCs, supervision, simulation, networks and cybersecurity requirements.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead for automation projects involving a team of engineers and techicians.
- Design functional architectures, including PLCs, networks, communication interfaces and HMI systems.
- Produce design, installation and test documentation.
- Program control systems and contribute to the improvement of internal tools and standards.
- Lead the deployment of required cybersecurity measures.
- Work closely with CAD teams to produce equipment drawings, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings and interface lists.
- Interface with clients, certification bodies and suppliers.
- Organise and perform factory acceptance tests on automation systems with clients and certification bodies.
- Monitor engineering activities, including planning, engineering hours, documentation delivery, remaining workload, cost optimisation opportunities and reporting
- .Provide technical support and advice to Sales, Commissioning and Operations teams.
Ideal Candidate
- Engineering degree in electrical engineering, industrial IT, automation or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in a similar automation or control systems role.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming, supervision systems and industrial IT networks.
- Experience working on complex technical projects, related to energy or industrial projects.
- Ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple project interfaces.
- Good command of Microsoft Officetools.
- Fluent English is required.
