About The Role

About Us The Geospatial Center (GEOCEN) is the Army’s competence center for geospatial data, GIS, and GEOINT. Located at Skive Barracks, we provide analysis and decision support to operational units—including the Danish Special Operations environment—in preparation for NATO’s upcoming Special Operations headquarters. The Position You will serve as a military IT Support Specialist (Corporal/IT SUP) within the geospatial element supporting NATO’s Special Operations Component Command – North West (SOCC-NW). As the technical linchpin, you will ensure GIS systems and data are available, stable, and ready for operational use. You will be the primary technical contact for units such as CyberDIV and FSR and must be able to communicate effectively at a technical level to ensure the foundation for the unit’s operations functions seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain GIS installations (e.g., ArcGIS)
  • Provide technical ownership for system setup, updates, and troubleshooting
  • Serve as primary technical liaison to FSR, CyberDIV, and other partners
  • Operate and maintain SQL databases
  • Develop scripts and automate workflows
  • Ensure systems, networks, and data are accessible to users
  • Provide technical advice and support to the GEOINT element in daily operations

About You You are a current or former soldier with a technical aptitude and interest in IT systems. You thrive on responsibility and enjoy making things work—even under pressure.

Terms of Employment This is a skilled Corporal position on collective agreement terms. The position may be filled by a civil servant. Salary (incl. allowances) is regulated by the current agreement between the Danish Ministry of Defence’s Personnel Agency and the Army’s Corporal and Senior Corporal Association. The position may be filled by a corporal with strong development potential. If you do not meet the educational requirements, you may be hired under a training agreement, committing you to complete the relevant education. Salary will follow the position’s pay level. Appointment as Corporal will occur once educational and physical baseline requirements are met, including medical and dental clearance and fulfillment of general appointment criteria. When applying for a new position within the Ministry of Defence, negotiations regarding personal allowances must be part of the recruitment process per applicable collective agreements. Basic salary is contingent upon completion of approved education, verified by presentation of a journeyman’s certificate or diploma, per current collective agreements. The fixed workplace is Skive. As an employee of the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to special conditions. You must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance throughout your employment. You are obligated to serve abroad, including at units in international operations—such as conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian, and similar missions. You must be aware that this position carries physical and functional health requirements. You are required at all times to meet the medical and physical standards for the role, including full medical clearance for unrestricted global service.

About the Engineer Regiment The Engineer Regiment is based at the Engineer Barracks in Skive—one of Denmark’s largest military installations. The regiment’s main task is to train units in five engineering specialties: combat engineer, mine clearance, construction, geospatial, and CBRN services. The regiment consists of a garrison support element, three professional battalions, and a reserve structure. Annually, it trains nearly 600 conscripts under the Army Basic Training (HBU) program, as well as cadets from all branches and services. The engineer regiment also has units at Pionergården on Vestamager, where parts of the Mine Clearance Center are located. The Engineer Barracks also houses the Prince’s Military Band, Home Guard Region West, Home Guard District Midt- & Vestjylland, and the Home Guard School’s Training Center Midt- and Vestjylland. In addition, elements of functional services are present—including Driftsområde Skive (Ministry of Defence Property Agency), Supply Center Skive (Ministry of Defence Material and Procurement Agency), and the Garrison and Special Workshop (Defence Maintenance Service). With up to ~1,500 employees—including conscripts and students—the Engineer Barracks is Skive’s largest employer, offering a diverse and varied service environment.
