Industrial Means Engineer (f/m) (H/F)
Job Description:
Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Industrial Means Engineer based on Toulouse site, France.
You will join our Final Assembly Line & Test MGSE (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment) Team created in May 2026 as part of the Manufacturing Engineering transversal organization . It's the central entity for Industrial Means, MGSE and maintenance for all Airbus Defence and Space MAIT (Mechanical Assembly Integration and Test).
The team core activity is MGSE development for AITs, Test center and transnational transportations (containers). Y ou will be involved in the entire lifecycle of technical equipment , from initial requirement analysis to final delivery, aiming at ensuring the highest standards of industrial reliability for our space missions.
Your challenges:
1. Requirements Engineering & Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with Design Offices, Systems Engineers, and end-users to identify technical tooling requirements for AIT activities
- Analyze satellite-specific constraints to be integrated into the development phase.
- Define the strategic approach for each requirement: "Make," "Buy," or "Re-use."
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for the development of new equipment involving specific technical risks.
2. Technical Specification & Statement of Work (SoW)
- Act as the technical author by drafting detailed Technical Specificationsto serve as the primary input for suppliers and manufacturers.
- Formalize all functional, technical, and operational requirements into contractually binding documents.
- Draft the Statement of Work (SoW), clearly defining the scope of tasks and all associated deliverables.
3. Tendering & Procurement
- Prepare and manage Requests for Quotation (RfQ) and tender processes for tooling fabrication, with buyer's support.
- Evaluate and select suppliers/manufacturers based on technical merit, ensuring strict adherence to project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
4. Development & Manufacturing Oversight
- Act as the primary technical point of contact during the manufacturing phase, coordinating closely with suppliers.
- Guide manufacturers through the technical process, including the validation of 3D models, engineering drawings, and blueprints.
- Manage design changes and manufacturing adjustments while proactively minimizing impacts on budget and delivery timelines.
5. Acceptance Testing & Delivery
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at the manufacturer's site to ensure test representativeness (including assembly, cleanliness, load requirements, and hardware compliance).
- Provide on-site technical support during the initial deployment and first use of the equipment on the satellite.
6. Documentation, Commissioning & Maintenance
- Manage the configuration of technical work packages within internal databases, ensuring all documentation is exhaustive and internal references are correctly recorded.
- Create MGSE data sheets and author associated maintenance procedures.
