IT Project Manager

Fixed‑term/part-time role (~20 hours) offered on a 6‑month contract with the possibility of extension to a year.

Location

The successful candidate may be based in one of the following locations: France, Poland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands.

Compensation

Competitive NGO‑level salary and benefits, specifics of which depend on the candidate’s location and will be discussed before the offer stage.

Responsibilities

• Define project goals, scope, deliverables, constraints, acceptance criteria and structure in partnership with the Project Owner, ensuring stakeholder understanding and appropriate processes/reporting.
• Ensure realistic resourcing, budget and time planning, and secure commitment from internal/external resources.
• Manage stakeholder expectations, delegating responsibilities to appropriate team members.
• Deliver IT projects of various sizes on time, within budget and to agreed quality.
• Identify, log, analyse and manage risks and issues, taking corrective action and reviewing impacts on scope, schedule, quality and cost.
• Ensure completed projects are delivered with comprehensive documentation and support.
• Apply relevant GPI project methodologies, processes and standards, ensuring all team members understand and follow them.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and success of the IT Project Management Team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s level education or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of substantial work experience in a similar or relevant role.
• Proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects, preferably in an international environment.
• Understanding of IT systems, software development, cybersecurity and/or cloud computing.
• Strong grasp of various business areas to deliver projects on varying topics and sizes.
• Certification in PMI or Prince2 required; Scrum certification preferred.
• Experience with vendor selection and contract negotiation preferred.
• Experience with and certification in organisational change management preferred.
• Previous experience working in an international and culturally diverse environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, focus on critical issues and make quick decisions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, and preferably one other language.
• Support for and belief in Greenpeace’s core aims and values.

What You Can Expect

The team consists of 6 IT Project Managers who work closely together to support and learn from each other. Projects cover a wide range including data‑related projects, HR systems, AI, SaaS implementations, CRM and cybersecurity. The Global IT Project Management team is part of the Tech Department, which prioritises increasing digital maturity across the Greenpeace network.
