IPVF – Photovoltaic Institute of Île-de-France

The Photovoltaic Institute of Île-de-France, institute for energy transition, is a scientific and technical center dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies . On its site located in Paris-Saclay, it brings together its own staff, employees of its partners and those of external companies. The IPVF aims to ambition to become one of the main global centers for research, innovation and training in the field of energy transition .

The IPVF aims to primary objective of improving the performance and competitiveness of photovoltaic cells and developing disruptive technologies relying on four levers:

  • An ambitious research program;
  • The reception, on its Paris-Saclay site, of more than 200 researchers and their laboratories;
  • A cutting‑edge technological platform (8 m²) open to players in the photovoltaic sector, and bringing together more than 000 cutting‑edge equipment located in clean rooms;
  • A training program mainly based on a master's degree, supervision of doctoral students, and continuing education.

JOB CONTEXT

Within the framework of the IPVF Joint Research Programme on the development of low cost and high performance solar cells, we are seeking to recruit a research and production engineer to continue the development of innovative material solutions for photovoltaic devices and to ensure the production of robust and suitable functional films.

Within the team Manufacturing processes and product development The candidate will be involved in missions including:

development of new semiconductor materials by ALD,

of in-situ and ex-situ characterization of deposited layers (Ellipsometry, XRD etc.),

of layer integration in photovoltaic stacks,

of handling vacuum deposition equipment on a pre‑industrial scale (pilot line).

He/she will also have the role of contributing to research projects and developing a technological bridge between the different actors of the joint research program to disseminate technological innovations arising from his/her research on semiconductor materials and/or transport layers.

What we offer:

The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment within the IPVF and in close collaboration with members of the CNRS-UMR. They will have access to laboratories within the IPVF as well as to the institute's extensive collaborative network.

As part of a growing international technology organization that places innovation, excellence, and agility at the heart of its values, we offer a work environment that values team spirit and promotes training. The IPVF will allow you to express your potential and demonstrate your skills in implementation of vacuum processes.

MAIN MISSIONS

Research and Development

  • Development of innovative functional materials by ALD
  • Optimization of characterization processes and in-situ monitoring
  • Communication and promotion of results (publications, patents, conference presentations)
  • Technological and scientific monitoring, materials and processes

Development and Production

  • Optimization of deposit revenues based on device constraints (rate, temperature, etc.)
  • Production of transport layers for photovoltaic devices at laboratory and pre-industrial scale
  • Contribution to production planning management
  • Maintenance of production tracking documents (characterization, consumables, stocks, etc.)
  • Contribution to the IPVF's service offerings/performances
  • First‑level maintenance of ALD and characterization equipment
  • Creation of a technological sharing bridge with the different themes of the research program (IMPACTS, PROMETHE, ICARE etc.)
