Internship - Actuarial Life Valuation Paris

We are looking to hire an Actuarial / Data Scientist Intern to join the Valuation team in Paris, reporting to an allocated Valuation Actuary and specializing in Long Term Protection. The internship will run for 3 months followed by a 1-year apprenticeship or a 6-month year‑break or end‑of‑study internship.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $(MIN) – $(MAX) per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Working Arrangement

About the role
• 3 months internship followed by a 1 year apprenticeship OR • 6 months year‑break or end‑of‑study internship.
We are looking for an intern with R modeling skills who seeks challenges and has a desire to learn about new products, markets and approaches. The role will involve working in a dynamic and culturally diverse environment with colleagues possessing a wide and varied range of experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Automating bordereaux compilation and generating reports on treaty performance.
- Expanding existing R frameworks for modeling and reporting.
- Conducting actuarial experience studies in respect of mortality on client portfolios to improve internal modeling.
- Adoption of new valuation software (R/PowerQuery/PowerBI).
- Using the results of experience studies to update actuarial projections in respect of PartnerRe’s statutory accounting and economic reporting requirements.
- Working on the implementation of several projects.
- Supporting reporting activity in different metrics (LDTI US GAAP, FR GAAP, Solvency 2).
Technical skills
- Strong proficiency in R programming language, data manipulation and visualization, including tidyverse packages. Experience with R Markdown and/or R Shiny is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience using VBA is a plus.
- Experience with SQL and databases in general is a plus.
- Well‑organized, proactive, creative and solution‑oriented.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical topics to non‑technical audiences.
- Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken skills are necessary.
- Highly motivated, openness for continuous improvement.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP accounting standards.
- Prior experience with NAIC statutory accounting and reporting is considered an asset.
Education
Graduated from or currently enrolled in a relevant university program in data science, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related field. Making progress towards qualifying as an Actuary.
