ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking a Flight Software Engineering Intern to support the development of mission‑critical embedded software for the Phoenix2 spacecraft.
You will work closely with experienced flight software and hardware engineers to help implement, test, and document real‑time software for spacecraft subsystems.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in designing and implementing flight software modules for Phoenix2 subsystems.
- Support development of real‑time embedded code following ECSS and CCSDS guidelines.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand subsystem behaviours and integration needs.
- Help troubleshoot software and hardware‑related issues under guidance from senior engineers.
- Contribute to documentation for reproducibility, traceability, and long‑term maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and integration sessions.
Profile required
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Basic experience with C/C++ or Python.
- Interest in embedded systems, real‑time software or aerospace applications.
- Familiarity with Linux development environments and scripting.
- Willingness to learn ECSS standards, CCSDS protocols and spacecraft software practices.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to RTOS concepts or embedded development.
- Interest in telecommand/telemetry systems or space communication protocols.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines or structured documentation tools.
- Experience working in multicultural or interdisciplinary teams.
