Weston Forest Products is looking for an HR Business Partner to join our People & Culture team, based at our Paris, Ontario manufacturing facility. This is a high-touch, embedded site role for someone who believes that how people are treated at work directly drives business results.
As our Site HRBP, you’ll be a trusted advisor, employee champion, and culture carrier — working at the intersection of people and performance. You’ll spend real time on the floor, build genuine relationships across all levels of the workforce, and translate what you hear into meaningful action alongside site and corporate leadership.
This role reports to the Manager, HR and works closely with site management, operations leadership, health & safety, and payroll. It is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys being close to the day-to-day operation.
What You’ll be Doing
Employee Advocacy & Relations
- Serve as the go‑to contact for employee concerns, questions, and complaints — ensuring every individual feels heard, respected, and supported
- Conduct intake conversations and guide resolution through coaching, mediation, or formal investigation as appropriate
- Champion psychological safety and a culture where employees feel empowered to raise issues without fear of retaliation
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and drive timely resolutions aligned with WFP policy and Ontario employment law
- Be a visible, approachable presence on the floor — building trust through regular, informal touchpoints with all levels of the workforce
Employee Engagement & Experience
- Design and implement site-level engagement strategies aligned to Weston Forest’s broader listening and recognition programs
- Facilitate listening sessions, pulse surveys, and focus groups — ensuring feedback is collected, synthesized, and acted on transparently
- Analyze engagement data and partner with site leadership to develop targeted action plans
- Monitor early warning indicators of disengagement (absenteeism, turnover, productivity) and partner with managers to address root causes proactively
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives that ensure all employees feel valued
Manager Coaching & Capability Building
- Coach frontline and mid-level managers on people practices: feedback, performance management, accommodation, and conflict resolution
- Support managers navigating complex situations — PIPs, return‑to‑work, accommodation requests — with consistency and confidence
- Partner with HR leadership on succession planning and career development conversations
HR Program Delivery & Compliance
- Support delivery of HR programs across the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, performance cycles, policy rollouts, compensation communications, and offboarding
- Ensure site compliance with Ontario legislation including the ESA, OHSA, OHRC, and AODA
- Conduct or support workplace investigations in a fair, thorough, and legally defensible manner
- Partner with Payroll and the Site Administrator on employee data accuracy, leave administration, and benefits inquiries
- Contribute to HR reporting: tracking turnover, engagement scores, absenteeism, case resolution timelines, and training completion
Workforce Planning & Talent
- Partner with site leadership to anticipate workforce needs and support recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
- Ensure new employees are connected to the culture, their team, and available resources from day one
- Participate in Dayforce HRIS rollout and support change management activities related to new systems and processes
What You bring to the Team
- Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; CHRP or CHRL designation (or working towards) considered an asset
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong generalist or HRBP foundation, ideally supporting operational teams
- Hands‑on experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment strongly preferred
- Proven track record supporting front‑line supervisors and managers in a fast‑paced, labour‑intensive setting
- Solid experience handling employee relations matters including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management
- Practical, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to navigate day‑to‑day issues while keeping the business moving
- Demonstrated ability to implement HR programs and processes at the site level, not just design them
- Strong communication skills: direct, clear, and credible with both employees and leadership
- Comfortable being present on the floor, building relationships across shifts and functions
- Willing to challenge when needed while maintaining a collaborative, respectful approach
Work Conditions
- Based at our manufacturing facility in Paris, Ontario, with regular presence on the production floor
- Occasional travel to Head Office in Brampton, Ontario
- Availability outside standard hours may be required for urgent employee matters or HR deadlines
- This role handles sensitive and confidential employee information — the highest standard of discretion is expected at all times
