Head of Legal
Position overview
We are seeking a Head of Legal to join our leadership team. This role is pivotal to structuring Orakl Oncology’s legal, regulatory, and intellectual property framework, enabling us to scale partnerships with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions.
You will report to the Chief of Operations and co-founder and partner closely with the founders and leaders across science, product/engineering, business, and hospital partnerships. This role blends strategic leadership with hands‑on execution in a fast‑moving, mission‑driven startup. You will manage top‑tier external counsels, and if there is a match, have the opportunity to build your own team.
- Protection of Orakl’s innovation and business : Centralize and manage Orakl’s intellectual property (IP) strategy and portfolio, including conducting and overseeing Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses, to safeguard and secure the company’s innovations and activities
- Contractual drafting and negotiation : Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with pharmaceutical partners, including partnerships, in/out‑licensing, and collaboration agreements with hospitals
- Compliance and Risk Management : Develop and implement legal, regulatory and compliance frameworks to ensure Orakl adheres to all relevant regulations.
- Corporate Governance : Manage corporate legal matters, including board governance, equity‑related activities, and investor relations, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
Educational background
Advanced degree in Law, ideally with a degree in Life Sciences or related field.
Professional experience
First experience in a law firm or in‑house legal team in the biotech/pharma sector.
Mindset
Problem solver, pragmatic, and able to balance scientific innovation with legal rigor / business oriented legal support.
Expertise
Strong knowledge of licensing, contract law, IP, FTO, with the ability to handle complex scientific partnerships within the health industry.
Languages
Fully bilingual French/English (spoken and written).
Soft skills
Autonomous, proactive, able to interact with stakeholders at all levels, including C‑suite executives and scientific leaders.
