Job Overview

The Handling Qualities Engineer works within the Aircraft Control Domain department to integrate flight physics with systems, engine, landing gear and cockpit systems. The role involves sizing control surfaces, defining flight domain, assessing aircraft behaviour in case of system failures, and supporting in‑service fleets.

Key Responsibilities

• Check aircraft and actuator sizing to meet handling qualities requirements.
• Define flight domain, characteristic speeds, angle‑of‑attack settings, sideslip domains, and procedures for failure cases.
• Analyse consequences of system failures on aircraft stability and control.
• Analyse in‑service events and system behaviour during these events.
• Prepare, perform and follow up on simulator and flight test requests to validate studies.
• Collaborate with Flight Operations, Flight Tests and system teams to manage failures.
• Support in‑service fleets by analysing events with customer support and product safety teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in flight dynamics, test physics or flight physics.
• Knowledge of control simulation tools (Matlab, Simulink).
• Understanding of automatic control and system control feedback loops (plus).
• Interest in digitalisation & data analytics (Python) – a plus.
• Aircraft systems knowledge – significant advantage.
• Advanced level of English and French.
