Inclusive Employer Statement

Job Description
For Royal Canin, packaging waste doesn't align with our vision for a world where the planet is healthy. We want to contribute to a circular economy where packaging material never becomes waste, but is recycled, reused, or composted. We are transforming our portfolio to tackle the challenge of packaging waste. To achieve this, we have developed a three-pillar strategy that consists of eliminating unnecessary packaging, redesigning our remaining packaging for circularity, and investing to close the loop.
As the Global Packaging Sustainability Lead, you will play a crucial role in supporting sustainable packaging strategies and capabilities within Royal Canin, ensuring that packaging design aligns with sustainability goals while meeting business and regulatory requirements.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Materials Science, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in sustainable packaging or related roles.
- Deep understanding of sustainable packaging principles, best practices, and industry trends.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, recycling processes, and circular economy principles.
- Proven track record in successfully implementing sustainable packaging initiatives.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Deep passion for sustainability and its impact on the planet, people, and pets.
- Experience in social/humanitarian fields is advantageous.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Planning and execution: Ensure progress towards our global packaging sustainability strategies that align with our OGSM, external commitments, industry-leading practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Technical leadership: Make sure the selected packaging materials are in conformity with the latest recyclable, compostable, etc. requirements (internal and external), substantiated by the right certifications to support claim development/regulation.
- Support to Regions and Markets, ensuring a global central view for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
- Drive the Global Voluntary Recycling workstream, partnering with Mars and external partners such as Delterra and others, and provide support to the Regions/Markets in this strategy.
- Consolidate the lifecycle analysis of packaging solutions to ensure environmental efficiency.
- Serve as Program Manager for PPWR, supporting the European region across all components— not limited to circularity.
- Act as the subject‑matter expert in Packaging Sustainability, driving alignment and effective collaboration across R&D, Demand, Commercial, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
- Prepare and present reports on packaging sustainability initiatives, performance metrics, and investment updates through the Sustainability Governance processes.
- Support data collection processes, including tools and systems development and improvements, in collaboration with digital teams.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on sustainable packaging practices and business commitments.
