Job Summary

As the Global Packaging Sustainability Lead, you will support sustainable packaging strategies and capabilities within Royal Canin, ensuring that packaging design aligns with sustainability goals while meeting business and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Materials Science, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in sustainable packaging or related roles.
• Deep understanding of sustainable packaging principles, best practices, and industry trends.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, recycling processes, and circular economy principles.
• Proven track record in successfully implementing sustainable packaging initiatives.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Deep passion for sustainability and its impact on the planet, people, and pets.
• Experience in social or humanitarian fields is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and Execution
  1. Ensure progress towards global packaging sustainability strategies that align with OGSM, external commitments, industry‑leading practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Technical Leadership
  1. Ensure selected packaging materials conform to recyclable/compostable requirements, supported by relevant certifications.
  2. Provide support to regions and markets, ensuring a global central view for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
  3. Drive the Global Voluntary Recycling workstream, partnering with external partners and supporting regional strategies.
  4. Consolidate lifecycle analysis of packaging solutions to ensure environmental efficiency.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  1. Serve as Program Manager for PPWR, supporting the EU region across all components.
  2. Act as the subject‑matter expert in packaging sustainability, driving alignment across R&D, demand, commercial, marketing and supply‑chain teams.
• Compliance, Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  1. Prepare and present reports on sustainability initiatives, performance metrics and investment updates through sustainability governance processes.
  2. Support data collection processes, data tools and systems development and improvements (in collaboration with digital teams).
• Stakeholder Engagement
  1. Provide training and support to internal teams on sustainable packaging practices and business commitments.
