Job Purpose

The France CCO and Banking Head (CCOBH) represents a single, coordinated face to the local marketplace, including government, regulators, clients, media, community, and employees. The CCOBH balances stewardship with dynamic franchise leadership, fulfilling expectations across two material legal entities (MLEs) present in France. By leveraging resources, the CCOBH drives the business strategy in partnership with businesses and functions, helping Citi achieve its goals and ensuring the growth of Citi’s franchise.

Citi has had a presence in France for more than 100 years and has a headcount of more than 350 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic direction of the franchise and implement processes and procedures that enable the Country’s businesses to thrive while ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulations, and French laws.
  • Manage relationships with clients, government officials, regulators, employees, media, and the public to engender trust and support a favourable environment for Citi’s growth.
  • Own client coverage, maintain C‑suite access, and grow revenues to exceed yearly performance targets.
  • Lead and oversee Corporate Banking client coverage, delivery of treasury and corporate finance solutions (cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, derivatives).
  • Drive client account planning, product‑agnostic cross‑sell, and optimal capital allocation.
  • Partner with wider Banking, Services, Markets, Institutional Credit Management, and Risk to deliver integrated solutions and execute transactions.
  • Understand market trends to identify growth opportunities and anticipate business challenges.
  • Make sound judgments that support and enhance Citi’s vision.
  • Provide leadership that touches all parts of the franchise and serves as a strong role model.
  • Maintain unquestioned integrity that underpins all business decisions.

Franchise Growth and Stewardship

  • Help drive franchise growth with direct accountability for specific business areas, including senior client coverage.
  • Manage customer profitability across Corporate Banking relationships (Revenue, Expense, CoC, EBIT, NI, ROTCE).
  • Ensure Corporate Banking client strategies meet or exceed Citi’s standards on risk, returns, and ethical considerations.
  • Escalate risk and franchise‑related issues to appropriate leaders and product/functional areas.

Franchise Governance

  • Act as the lead Country contact with local and European regulators and host government officials.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and Citi policies, including ethical standards and business practices.
  • Establish and lead Country‑specific governance committees.

Operational Risk

  • Manage crisis situations, including decision making, escalation, and communications.
  • Maintain a current and robust Continuity of Business plan (COB).
  • Protect Citi’s franchise, reputation, and premises.
  • Host Country Management governance and regulatory relationship engagement.
  • Oversee Senior Client Relationship Management, Legal Vehicle Management, and oversight as required.
  • Implement controls across Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Audit.
  • Oversee Corporate Banking risk management, including regulatory, KYC, and compliance responsibilities.
  • Act as senior credit officer: oversee credit decisions, documentation, target market identification, due diligence, and early problem recognition.
  • Engage with local community, associations, and media.
  • Demonstrate coordinated leadership, presenting a single face to the local marketplace.

Qualifications, Experience and Strengths

  • Strong academic background (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 20+ years of banking experience.
  • Strong product knowledge across Banking, Markets, Services, and Lending with demonstrated analytical ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate, structure, and execute complex Corporate Banking transactions.
  • Proven track record managing Corporate Banking client relationships and delivering integrated treasury and corporate finance solutions.
  • Strong credit skills and risk portfolio management.
  • Corporate Finance mindset with advisory capabilities.
  • In‑depth understanding of banking products, including loans, cash management, trade, structured finance, DCM, derivatives.
  • Strong knowledge of investment banking offerings (advisory, equity).
  • In‑depth understanding of compliance issues, global and local regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working within a matrix organization and cross‑functional teams.
  • In‑depth industry knowledge.
  • Proven existing and senior customer relationships.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Ability to balance internal management and external client time.
  • Understanding of regional compliance issues and regulatory requirements.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to partner well, draw consensus quickly, and act decisively in cost‑constrained environments.
  • Strategic thinking and timely realignment with dynamic market conditions.
  • High ethical and moral standards.
  • Fluency in French and English.
