About

Joko helps consumers shop smarter. Their ambition is to revolutionize how people shop, empowering them to find what they need, make informed decisions, and save money.

Joko is a tech company founded in Paris. Their team of 90+ talents is international and spread across Paris, Barcelona, and New York, with some working remotely. As a certified B Corporation, they are committed to making a difference for the communities they serve, including the 6 million consumers already using Joko to save money every day at over 10,000 merchants. Over the years, they have expanded their value proposition to help consumers make smarter shopping decisions with features such as cash back, buy now pay later, automatic coupons, price drop alerts, carbon footprint tracking, and more. Today, they are dedicating significant resources to an AI‑powered assistant that helps users find the right product based on criteria like price, quality, or environmental impact across the global e‑commerce catalog. After reaching profitability in their core market, they are expanding internationally with a primary focus on the US. It’s still day 1 at Joko; come build the future of shopping with Joko.

Finance Team Overview

Founded in 2018, Joko has reached a scale and trajectory that few European startups can match. Strong and rapidly growing revenue has multiplied dramatically over the past five years. Already profitable with ambitious growth targets and a path to becoming a large‑scale global company. Live in the US, with plans to open additional international markets in the near term. Multiple revenue streams – Online commissions, Card‑Linked partnerships, Gift Cards, and Media – with more business units launching in the coming years. A fast‑growing team, with plans to significantly scale headcount in the near future.

The Finance team ensures that Joko builds a strong, profitable, and strategically sound business. Finance is at the heart of our decision‑making: we build sophisticated financial models, manage multi‑country P&Ls, steer cost efficiency across the company, and provide the analytical backbone that supports our aggressive growth targets.

We are scaling the team toward ~5 people – a VP Finance plus four contributors covering the full finance scope across business partnering, FP&A, accounting & controlling, and treasury. You will report directly to the VP Finance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Partner with business teams: serve as a finance business partner to a defined scope – a business line (Online, Card‑Linked, Gift Cards, Media) or a geography (France, US, future markets). Help stakeholders take better decisions through data, modeling, and rigorous discipline.
  • Drive financial planning across your scope: own the budget and re‑forecasts for your perimeter. Champion bottom‑up budgeting with team‑level cost ownership. Run monthly business reviews and BvA tracking with clarity and conviction.
  • Build and maintain financial models: contribute to our group financial model – combining cohort‑based revenue projections, elasticity‑based CAC modeling, and granular bottom‑up cost budgets. Run scenario analyses to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure rigorous monthly close: in coordination with our external accountants, execute monthly P&L and balance‑sheet close, annual closing, and audit. Help drive the team toward group consolidation under international standards (IFRS) as we scale into a multi‑entity, multi‑country setup.
  • Manage cash with discipline: monitor invoicing, cash collection, and working capital.
  • Manage compliance and tax declarations: ensure local compliance (VAT, CFE, payslip‑related taxes) for your scope, in coordination with external partners.
  • Optimize cost structure: be the go‑to person for negotiating contracts with suppliers within your scope.
  • Set up clean and safe financial processes and controls to prevent fraud and errors.
  • Leverage AI to transform finance operations: actively use AI in your daily work – automating reporting and reconciliation, augmenting forecasting and analysis, and contributing to the team’s broader AI‑first ambition.
  • Contribute to fundraising and external relations when relevant: support due diligence, financial communication, and investor reporting.

Who We're Looking For

  • Languages: fluent in English; strong in French is a plus. International experience is highly valued.
  • Experience: 4 to 8 years of experience in traditional finance (corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, transaction services, or audit) with exposure to a high‑growth tech company or scale‑up. Experience in multi‑country, multi‑entity, or multi‑BL settings is a strong plus. A double degree in accounting (e.g., DCG or DSCG) is a plus.
  • Strategic mindset: think as a business partner, not just a finance controller.
  • Analytical and modeling skills: comfortable with cohort‑based revenue, elasticity‑based CAC, and bottom‑up cost modeling.
  • Stakeholder management: build strong relationships and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Accounting and key financial metrics understanding: evaluate accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
  • International finance: experience or strong appetite for multi‑country financial operations – multi‑currency, international tax, building finance ops in new markets.
  • AI‑native mindset: actively use AI tools in your work and have an opinion on how AI can automate reporting, augment forecasting, and accelerate finance work.
  • Attention to detail: spot flaws in data.
  • Communication: strong written and verbal communication ability.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: like challenges and getting hands‑on, energized by scaling a company from tens of millions of revenue to billions.
