Field Engineer
Location France: need someone living in Paris area due to volume of sites there, but prepared to travel as far as Bordeaux and Archamps
Languages: French and English speaking
Travel: this role will involve lots of travel to sites.
Working Hours: Our core hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some flexibility when needed.
Job Overview
We are seeking experienced and motivated Field Technicians / Engineers to support the installation, upgrade, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling, Ethernet, fiber optic, Wi‑Fi, and telecommunications networks for managed broadband customers.
This is a hands‑on field role where you will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, contractors, and customers to deliver high‑quality network infrastructure projects across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in both remote and on‑site project meetings with Project Managers, Engineers, contractors, and customers
- Conduct pre‑installation site surveys and inspections, preparing detailed reports and recommendations
- Assist in the preparation of installation documentation, including:
- Method statements
- Quality assurance checklists
- Supervise subcontracted installation teams during deployment of:
- Data networks
- Provide proactive field support and respond promptly to technical issues and service requests
- Perform installation testing, commissioning, and customer acceptance procedures
- Conduct on‑site quality assurance reviews to ensure installations meet project and safety standards
- Maintain and support Wi‑Fi, data, and telecommunications networks across assigned sites
- Troubleshoot faults and carry out repair and maintenance activities as directed by the Field Operations Coordinator
- Manage site material inventory, reporting used stock and future equipment requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in IT, Networking, or Telecommunications environments
- Hands‑on experience installing and testing:
- Structured cabling
- Ethernet networks
- Fiber optic infrastructure
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads effectively
- Excellent customer service and stakeholder communication skills
- Process‑driven, proactive, and accountable approach to work
- Ability to travel regularly and remain flexible during busy project periods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
