We are seeking a talented Field Application Engineer to support the adoption and deployment of next-generation solid-state power protection and advanced switching technologies. In this role, you will explore emerging application opportunities, develop customer-oriented demonstrators, and collaborate with key industrial and research partners to accelerate the integration of advanced semiconductor-based protection solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Exploration: Identify and qualify new use cases for semiconductor-based power protection technologies and advanced electronic switching solutions across diverse markets.
- Prototyping & Validation: Design, develop, and validate demonstrators, prototypes, and customer evaluation platforms that highlight high-performance switching and protection capabilities.
- Technology Integration: Investigate the integration of Wide Bandgap (WBG) devices into fast, selective, and intelligent protection functions.
- Testing & Characterization: Build advanced test benches and execute rigorous characterization campaigns covering fast transients, short-circuits, surges, and Safe Operating Area (SOA) parameters.
- Co-Development: Partner with external clients and stakeholders to co-create innovative AC and DC power distribution architectures for applications like smart buildings, data centers, electric vehicles, and industrial systems.
- Technical Thought Leadership: Author application notes, technical reports, and design guidelines while monitoring industry trends in electronic protection and power distribution.
Requirements
- Education: Engineering degree or MSc in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related field.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands‑on experience in power electronics and power semiconductor technologies.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of fast electrical protection challenges, including short‑circuit protection, current limiting, and protection coordination, alongside familiarity with WBG devices, thermal constraints, and fast interruption topologies.
- Lab Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with advanced laboratory equipment, such as high‑bandwidth oscilloscopes, fast current probes, power supplies, and electronic loads.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, an experimental hands‑on mindset, and the ability to clearly translate and formalize technical findings.
- Working Style: Autonomous, rigorous, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously within collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
