Your future missions

The mission of the Certification/Qualification Engineer is to demonstrate compliance of Airbus Helicopters products to the applicable airworthiness requirements, to ensure their in-service safety. This results in a challenging transverse position, including negotiation internally but also with Aviation Authorities worldwide, with great responsibilities, and a good overview of our products, systems and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Initial certification of our products.
  • Certification of further steps (domain extension, new variant, ...), and of Post-TC (after TC) design changes (including Technical Publications).
  • Serial and prototype helicopters 'Permit to Fly'.
  • Initial and design change Foreign validation.
  • Management of schedule and priorities for all these certification activities.
  • Support to deliveries.
  • Support to offer.

Task & accountabilities

As part of Avionics Chief Airworthiness Engineer team, in direct contact with the Chief Engineer team, the different key contributors from the Design Office and Support Services, as well as with the Authorities (EASA, FAA, DGA...), the job holder main missions will be:

Project Management

  • Planning and piloting of Avionics Certification activities and reviews.
  • Risk identification and mitigation.
  • Managing priorities internally.
  • Follow-up and reporting on compliance demonstration activities progress, fixing hard points, ensuring on-time completion of the activities.
  • Ensuring interface with change board management process.

Certification activities

  • Contributing to Avionics certifications.
  • Identification and definition of the applicable Certification basis (airworthiness and OSD) and CRI.
  • Definition of Certification logic, establishing corresponding Certification Program.
  • Validating compliance demonstrations proposed by the design office.
  • Contributing to helicopter level certification activities: consolidating the results of the compliance demonstration and declaring compliance at helicopter level to support delivery.
  • Contributing to one or several Helionix certification steps for a program (EC135, BK117, H160 or EC175).
  • Contributing to UMBRELLA initial certification.

UMBRELLA Initial Certification

  • Review the main system plan.
  • Initiate discussions with EASA based on main architecture & functions (high level) and prepare Certification Plan.
  • Framing of System Engineering with EASA Panel 10.
  • Organize System Review and Technical Familiarization.
  • Preparation of the Permit to Fly.
  • Review, closure of certification docs.

Required skills

  • Educated to a 5 years’ degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of overall Engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in avionics certification and/or in Software (DO178-B, DO254) and/or System Engineering (ARP4754, DO297).
  • Experience in project management would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness would be a plus.
  • Negotiation level of English.
