Engineering Leader

We are partnering with a rapidly scaling space-tech company developing next-generation Earth observation capabilities and secure, real-time communications from orbit. With strong commercial traction and ambitious growth plans, the company is now strengthening its technical leadership to support industrialisation and scale.

The company is seeking a senior technical leader to work closely with the CTO and play a pivotal role in scaling engineering operations across a fast-growing space organisation. This individual will ensure end-to-end system coherence, operational excellence, and alignment between technical execution and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end system coherence, from product vision and architecture through to large-scale operational deployment
• Ensure the robustness, scalability, and reliability of technical platforms in critical, multi-client, industrialised environments
• Act as a central interface between executive leadership, engineering teams, and business stakeholders
• Anticipate technical, organisational, and industrial risks, translating them into actionable and measurable plans
• Build and sustain a strong engineering culture focused on product quality, service reliability, and time-to-market
• Deliver clear, structured, and data-driven reporting to the CTO and leadership team to support strategic decision-making
• Engineering degree (or equivalent) with a strong background in complex space systems
• Several years’ experience in senior technical or engineering leadership roles within the space industry
• A hands‑on leadership style with the ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences

Advantageous Experience:

• Deep understanding of system-level interactions across payload, RF, ground segment, software, operations, and business models
• Experience with ground segment solutions, connectivity, or GSaaS models
• Proven ability to translate technical vision into operational, industrialised, and commercially viable products
• Strong architecture and infrastructure expertise, including cloud/edge computing, virtualisation, security, data pipelines, and monitoring
• Comfortable operating across RF, telecom, and space systems, with the judgement to challenge, arbitrate, and make decisions without needing to be a domain expert in every area
