System Administrator - Space Sector

We are looking for two skilled System Administrators to join our team and play a key role in managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure supporting the Galileo program. You will work in a high-availability environment, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the ground segment systems that keep Europe’s global navigation satellite system (GNSS) running smoothly.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a complex IT environment (space, aerospace, telecommunications, or similar)
- Strong expertise in Windows & Linux system administration
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)
- Familiarity with networking concepts (routing, switch configuration, firewall, VPNs)
- Proficiency in automation & scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible)
- Problem‑solving mindset and a proactive approach
- Ability to work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate across departments
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Eligibility for security clearance
- Willingness to travel within Europe when required
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a System Administrator, you will be part of the Galileo Ground Segment, a critical component of the Galileo satellite navigation system. Your role will involve configuring, maintaining, and optimizing the ground segment infrastructure while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure high availability and reliability of Galileo services.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining complex IT infrastructures, including servers, networking devices, cryptographic systems, and key IT services
- Setting up and managing containerized services
- Ensuring the integration and testing of new software and hardware releases before deployment
- Assisting in penetration tests and IT security audits to evaluate system robustness and compliance
- Supporting the delivery of Galileo’s navigation message, ensuring the infrastructure meets strict operational standards
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Participating in anomaly investigations, change control boards, and system migrations to enhance system performance
- Collaborating with ESA, EUSPA, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with mission requirements and industry best practices
