Our client is an Eastern European headquartered consumer goods company operating in the specialist outdoor and leisure equipment sector. The business designs proprietary branded products and manufactures them through a well-established global sourcing network.
With annual revenues in the tens of millions of euros and a workforce of around 100 employees, the company has built a strong reputation within its niche and today ranks among the top five European players in its specialist outdoor segment.
The company has developed a strong B2B distribution footprint supplying specialist retailers and digital resellers across multiple European markets. Alongside this established wholesale channel, the leadership team has been gradually expanding direct-to-consumer digital commerce in selected European markets to capture additional value from its brand and growing customer community.
The French market represents a major and strategically important scale-up of these existing B2C operations. The company has already launched several digital initiatives, including e-commerce campaigns, social media engagement, and targeted online marketing activities.
The next step now requires experienced interim leadership to professionalise and scale the B2C channel into a structured and profitable growth engine.
Responsibilities
- Interim B2C E-commerce Manager reporting directly to the founders and executive leadership team
- Operational leadership of the company’s direct-to-consumer digital business in the French market
- Optimise customer acquisition economics and improve lifetime value through structured digital marketing management
- Introduce retention and repeat purchase strategies, including CRM, lifecycle marketing, and customer engagement programmes
- Work closely with the internal marketing team and external digital marketing partners to improve campaign effectiveness
- Establish clear performance metrics, including CAC, LTV, retention rates, and contribution margin
- Implement practical improvements to the digital sales funnel and customer journey
- Support the development of internal capabilities and team structure for the future scaling of the B2C channel
- Strong understanding of the French B2C e-commerce market and French consumer buying behaviour
- Fluency in the French language is required , with the ability to operate commercially in the French market
- Former e-commerce manager, digital growth leader, or interim B2C commercial manager
- Background in consumer goods, outdoor products, sporting equipment, lifestyle brands, or specialist retail
- Strong expertise in performance marketing platforms, CRM systems, and digital sales funnel optimisation
- Experience improving repeat purchase rates and customer retention in B2C businesses
- Ability to work closely with marketing teams and digital agencies to deliver measurable results
- Comfortable operating in founder-led organisations with fast decision cycles
- Hands-on and pragmatic leadership style focused on execution rather than high-level strategy
- Data-driven approach to digital marketing performance and customer behaviour
- Experience working in international or cross-border European markets
Qualifications
- Requirement 01: Fluent French language and strong understanding of French B2C consumer behaviour and the French digital market
- Requirement 02: Proven experience scaling B2C e-commerce channels and improving CAC vs LTV economics
- Requirement 03: Hands-on expertise in performance marketing, CRM, and customer retention strategies
