Together, we can shape the future.Job Description:The Director Sustainability will manage sustainability activities for the sub‑region Western Europe (France, Spain, and Portugal), ensuring our legal and social license to operate, as well as the objective reporting of environmental and sustainability programs, risks, compliance, and other sustainability impacts. The Director Sustainability will also be actively involved in permitting and land‑related matters in France.

In addition, this role will be part of the Global Sustainability Centre of Excellence, contributing subject‑matter expertise to develop and implement global programs and to define global standards.

ResponsibilitiesSub-region:Manage sustainability activities in the sub-region to ensure activities are performed according Sibelco’s standards. It concerns obtaining environmental and mining permits, managing land, conducting environmental studies, engaging with communities, budgeting, etc.. You will also be actively involved in permitting and land files in the base country France.
  • Be the direct manager of the Sustainability Specialists (5) in the sub-region and partner closely with the sub-regional leadership team.
  • Identify, manage and monitor risks and opportunities in the sub-region in scope.
  • Ensure effective reporting on global KPI’s, projects and programs.
Centre of Excellence:
  • As member of the global centre of excellence, contribute to develop and implement global environmental or community engagement programs for the Group and improve sustainability performance in area of expertise.
  • Act as a business partner to other functions for their area of expertise.
Qualifications:
  • University degree or equivalent through experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in sustainability/environmental management or a similar field.
  • Experience working with governments, authorities, communities.
  • Experience with ESG strategy, ESG/Sustainability reporting (e.g. GRI, SASBI, etc.), environmental management (air, water, waste, etc.), community engagement.
  • Solid knowledge of environmental law.
  • Native French and proficient in English. Other languages are an asset.
Overview of responsibilities:
  • Manage sub-region
Manage sustainability activities in sub-region in scope to ensure activities

are performed according Sibelco’s standards (e.g. activities related to legal

and social licenses to operate, land management, etc.).
  • Be the manager of the sustainability managers/specialists and
maintain a close collaboration.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge about risks, issues, opportunities,
sustainability impacts and escalate to global organization (CoE).
  • Manage priority sustainability projects in the sub-region
  • Maintain close relation and partner with the VPs Operations of the
sub-region to ensure the license to operate in the sites.
  • Support the VP sustainability to implement global projects and M&A if requested.
  • Identify resource needs.
  • Conduct performance management for local sustainability managers/specialists of sub-region(s) in scope.
  • Steer and follow up sustainability related budgets in close collaboration with the VPs Operations and Cluster Directors.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
Manage and monitor the probability of a perceived threat or opportunity

and its impact on the objectives related to PPP (People, Profit, Planet)

and/or ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance).
  • Pro-actively follow up action plans to resolve issues, risks and/or
improve performance
  • Collaborate with the CoE
  • Reporting & KPIs:
Ensure effective reporting on global KPI’s, projects and programs.
  • Ensure timely, transparent and objective reporting of sub-region in
scope.
  • Track progress of KPIs in sub-region in scope and signal any issues.
  • Collect and consolidate all relevant data provided by the sustainability managers/specialists and perform a quality check of the data.
  • Analyse and report on project/program progress
  • Expertise and operational effectiveness:
Improve sustainability performance in area of expertise
  • Pro-actively follow up legislation of own area(s) of expertise to ensure up to date knowledge.
  • Keep track of development/innovation in area(s) of expertise and provide updates.
  • Organize and disseminate information
  • Learn from incidents, best practices etc.
