DevOps Engineer

Overview

Skynopy is building a secured cloud-based infrastructure that unifies multiple ground‑station networks into a single interface. The core infrastructure includes a centralised API for booking, configuring and monitoring radio contacts; interfaces to various ground‑station providers; streamers to handle real‑time packet processing and delivery to customers’ satellites and mission control centers; asynchronous workers to configure infrastructure, instantiate streamers at contact time and perform post‑contact operations; a monitoring server to centralise operational metrics and logs; and storage buckets for satellite telecommands, telemetry and mission data.

Responsibilities

• Distribute infrastructure across different regions and cloud providers to minimise data latency and adapt to clients’ needs.
• Orchestrate short‑lived components and handle asynchronous tasks.
• Develop tools to improve deployment of the core infrastructure.
• Ensure the platform is designed with operability, security, resiliency and high availability in mind.
• Build solutions that satisfy data sovereignty requirements, including trusted cloud infrastructure.
• Set up test environments for production‑like simulations.
• Manage multi‑cloud infrastructure, encompassing Skynopy’s core, providers’ clouds and clients’ clouds.

Must Haves

• DevOps experience : minimum 2 years in DevOps engineering.
• Linux experience : managing Linux environments (filesystem, process management, networking, services).
• Network experience : setting up and managing VPN, LAN, WAN, IP infrastructure.
• Infrastructure as Code skills : proficiency in Terraform.
• Distributed systems experience : designing, deploying and maintaining distributed infrastructure.
• Cloud technologies : proven AWS experience, at least one Associate level certification.
• Version Control and CI : strong experience with git and CI pipelines.
• Scripting language skills : efficient in Bash and Python.
• Monitoring infrastructure : maintaining and monitoring critical cloud infrastructure (metrics collection, analysis, display).
• Collaboration skills : excellent documentation and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Communication skills : clear and concise technical communication and proposal of insightful solutions.

Nice to Haves

• Infrastructure as Code skills : knowledge of Ansible.
• Kubernetes experience : experience and skills in Kubernetes.
• Backend skills : experience in backend application development.
• Data sovereignty knowledge : familiarity with SecNumCloud requirements.
