Key Responsibilities
- Join our global A.I. development team in Toulouse focused on enhancing the Schaeffler Production System. Collaborate closely with us to address manufacturing challenges in a data-driven approach, delivering more efficient and smarter solutions for our partners and customers, including A.I. predictive modeling.
- Solve real production challenges: Partner with data scientists, data/industrial engineers, and stakeholders to design and deliver AI solutions that respect production constraints and business priorities.
- Translate business needs into AI systems: Clarify reporting and decision requirements, then architect models and services that enable more autonomous decision-making on the shop floor.
- Analyze and model at scale: Explore data and infrastructure to uncover patterns, quantify risks/opportunities, and identify cause–effect relationships.
- Build, train, and integrate: Train models, tune hyperparameters, and connect streaming/batch data to models; validate thoroughly before production rollout.
- Measure impact: Define success metrics with the solution manager, monitor model performance and business value, and iterate—or retire—models as needed.
- Lead global AI projects: Drive end‑to‑end initiatives across Schaeffler group plants, coordinating cross‑functional contributors and timelines.
- Document and communicate: Produce clear, maintainable code, technical docs, and user guides; present insights to both experts and non‑experts.
Required Profile and Key Skills
- Engineer Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics.
- 4-5 years of practical experience in data science ideally within the mass production industry, focusing on machine learning, deep learning, foundation models (GenAI…).
- Strong foundation in mathematics, data science, and machine learning.
- Proficiency in statistical programming languages, particularly Python.
- Hands‑on experience with intensive computing and parallelization.
- Experience with Big Data / ML ecosystems and tools (ELK, Grafana…).
- Familiarity with the AWS / Azure ecosystems and effective communication with IT teams regarding these technologies.
- A passionate interest in cutting‑edge technologies and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and business acumen.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Experience managing agile projects is a plus.
- Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
- Fluent in English and French. Proficiency in German is a plus.
