Overview

Installation & Commissioning Engineer – Renewable Energy / BESS

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Installation & Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. You will oversee installation activities, lead commissioning, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high technical standard. You will also support O&M activities when required.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning Execution: Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists; coordinate commissioning works with construction, engineering, and OEM partners; deliver all commissioning milestones on schedule.
• System Testing & Verification: Carry out functional, performance, and reliability testing on PCS, BMS, and EMS systems; validate integration of electrical, control, and communication systems; perform grid compliance and performance verification testing.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare commissioning protocols, reports, punch lists, and handover documentation; record non-conformities and track corrective actions through to completion.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning; provide support for subsystem integration challenges; escalate complex issues to engineering teams or OEMs where needed.
• Coordination: Collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and external suppliers; liaise with equipment vendors during testing and troubleshooting activities.
• Handover & Post-Commissioning: Ensure systems are fully tested and ready for commercial operation; support performance validation during the initial operation phase.

Qualifications & Experience

• Strong EHS understanding within electrical installation projects (RAMS / SHEQ / CDM).
• Experience working in electrical contracting or with BESS equipment.
• Desirable knowledge of renewables, battery storage, EV charging, PV, or general electrical installations.
