Business Development Director – EMEA

Overview

We are partnering with a global ingredients business to appoint a Business Development Director – EMEA, a high-impact leadership role focused on unlocking new growth across the region.

This is not a traditional sales leadership role. It is a “build-from-zero” opportunity to identify, shape and scale new commercial avenues across markets, channels, and product innovation.

You will operate at the intersection of strategy, commercial execution, and market creation, working directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive meaningful, long-term growth.

The Mandate

  • Identify and develop new market and product growth opportunities across EMEA
  • Build and own a high-quality BD pipeline , from concept through to execution
  • Assess market discontinuities, channel expansion (e.g. private label, foodservice) and emerging trends
  • Lead strategic partnerships, alliances, and commercial negotiations
  • Translate market insight into actionable growth strategies and scalable initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse industry trends and competitive dynamics to shape regional priorities
  • Develop and prioritise new business opportunities aligned to strategic objectives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Sales, Technical, Marketing, Finance, Product) to bring opportunities to life
  • Build compelling value propositions and commercial cases
  • Track, report, and optimise pipeline performance and conversion
  • Represent the business externally at key industry forums and with strategic stakeholders

What They’re Looking For

  • Proven track record in B2B commercial leadership / business development within ingredients, food, or adjacent sectors
  • Experience building new revenue streams, not just managing existing accounts
  • Strong strategic capability combined with a hands‑on, execution‑driven mindset
  • Ability to influence at senior leadership / ExCo level
  • Commercial acumen with solid P&L understanding and deal‑making capability
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, complexity, and fast‑moving environments
