Salary and Benefits: $36.91– $43.18 According to education and experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all buses and division vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic system issues
  • Complete repairs on engines, drivetrains, brakes, HVAC, fuel systems, and specialized equipment
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and digital records
  • Provide emergency roadside support and coordinate towing or repair timelines
  • Track fleet maintenance schedules and ensure vehicles meet regulatory compliance
  • Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; order replacements as needed
  • Communicate repair needs, safety concerns, and vehicle status to supervisors and drivers
  • Winterize vehicles and support seasonal preparation, including snow removal around shop areas
  • Test-drive vehicles after repairs to ensure safe operation

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Automotive Service Technician program or similar technical training
  • Journeyperson Mechanic status preferred
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License (minimum)
  • Class 2 License with S-Endorsement preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work (100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly)
  • Ability to work independently and produce journeyperson-quality work
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices

Working Conditions

  • 12 months per year
  • Extensive travel throughout the division and province
  • Ability to travel northern roads under adverse conditions
  • Overnight stays in various communities as required

Probationary Period

  • A one-year probationary period applies to all new appointees.
