Burmese Language Data Specialist – Part-Time NLP for AI

Overview

Empowering AI to understand and engage with the rich linguistic heritage of Myanmar is a critical frontier. Your deep knowledge of the Burmese language and its unique script will be instrumental in creating foundational datasets that allow AI to communicate effectively and respectfully with Burmese speakers.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality Burmese language text datasets covering a range of topics and styles.
• Review and validate AI-generated Burmese content for accuracy, fluency, and cultural context.
• Ensure correct usage of the Myanmar script, including proper character formation and spacing.
• Provide detailed feedback on AI's ability to capture colloquialisms, honorifics, and regional nuances.
• Evaluate linguistic data for specific NLP tasks, such as sentiment analysis or entity extraction.
• Collaborate on improving guidelines for Burmese language data creation and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Burmese, including strong reading and writing skills in the Myanmar script.
• Extensive experience with Burmese language content creation, translation, or localization.
• In-depth understanding of Burmese grammar, phonology, and sociolinguistic conventions.
• Ability to differentiate between formal and informal registers and apply them appropriately.
• Prior experience in linguistic data evaluation or evaluation for machine learning is highly valued.
• Familiarity with Unicode standards for Burmese script is a plus.
