BESS Project Finance Analyst

We are in partnership with a leading BESS developer and Independent Grid Connection Provider. The company covers the full project lifecycle, from design to operation, and is accelerating the energy transition in France.

After securing a significant financing round in 2025 and a partnership to develop over 500MW in Energy Storage projects with an international investor, the company is strengthening its team and recruiting a Project Finance & Modelling Analyst.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build, update, and optimize project financial models (including IRR, equity IRR, payback, cash yield, DSCR, PLCR, LLCR, etc.).
  • Prepare and maintain business plans and financial scenarios incorporating key assumptions (e.g., PPA, capex, opex, financing, taxation).
  • Conduct stress tests and sensitivity analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and structure project financing packages (data room, financial information, modelling).
  • Support the Director of Finance during negotiations with banks and investors.
  • Contribute to due diligence processes (financial, tax, technical, contractual).
  • Produce comparative economic analyses of different investment options.
  • Support the preparation of financial presentations for management, the strategic committee, and shareholders.
  • Ensure alignment of financial models with project schedules.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Where needed, oversee financial follow-up and reporting for projects already financed, under construction, or in operation.
  • Monitor market conditions (interest rates, financing structures, benchmarks).
  • Occasionally contribute to corporate/topco financing topics if required.
  • Contribute to knowledge-building and continuous improvement of internal financial tools.

Candidate Profile

Required

  • Master’s degree in finance, engineering, or business (Grande École or university).
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in project finance, financial modelling, or M&A in infrastructure/renewables.
  • Excellent mastery of Excel (advanced modelling; VBA/macros a plus).
  • Solid understanding of structured or bank financing (senior debt, mezzanine, equity).
  • Ability to integrate technical aspects of renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Rigorous, analytical, and autonomous.
  • Proactive with strong interpersonal skills to interact with banks, partners, and internal teams.
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).

Preferred

  • Knowledge/experience in stationary battery storage (BESS) and renewable energy.
  • Knowledge of grid connection infrastructure (private substations).
