Automation Engineer

Location: Lyon, France

Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (ending Summer 2027)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Siemens WinCC to join a project team based in Lyon. This is a long-term contract role supporting automation systems within a regulated GMP environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems for industrial processes, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain SCADA systems using Siemens WinCC
• Develop and modify HMI interfaces to meet operational and project requirements
• Integrate automation systems with PLCs and other control equipment
• Support commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of automation systems
• Ensure all automation activities comply with GMP standards and documentation practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, validation, and production
• Produce and maintain technical documentation (FDS, SDS, test protocols, etc.)
• Participate in FAT, SAT, and system validation activities
• Provide ongoing system support and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience as an Automation Engineer in an industrial setting
• Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens WinCC (SCADA systems)
• Demonstrated experience working within a GMP-regulated environment (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biotech, or related industries)
• Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens S7 preferred)
• Familiarity with validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical specifications
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Fluent in English; French is an advantage

Preferred Skills

• Experience with additional Siemens tools (TIA Portal, PCS7)
• Understanding of data integrity and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11)
• Previous experience on large-scale industrial or pharmaceutical projects
• Start Date: As soon as possible
