Description of Work
This is an Anticipated Vacancy as of 08/01/2026.
The Domestic Marketing Section drives the growth of North Carolina agriculture by connecting local producers, processors, and agribusinesses with new customers and retail opportunities. Through strategic marketing, buyer outreach, and statewide promotional efforts, we increase demand for North Carolina grown products and expand the industry’s retail footprint.
This role leads retail marketing programs that help North Carolina agricultural businesses succeed in grocery, convenience, and specialty retail channels. Responsibilities include analyzing market needs, developing marketing strategies, guiding promotional plans, and supporting producers and value added food companies as they grow their retail presence. A key function of this position is building strong relationships with retail executives and buyers to open doors for North Carolina products and strengthen their visibility on store shelves.
Incumbent must have a valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $60,881 - $78,000
- Knowledge of marketing, sales, and procedures.
- Knowledge of agriculture.
- Proficiency is required in Microsoft Office Suite like Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.
- Ability to possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct work operations.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, crop science, animal science, horticulture, home economics or related area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
