Job Overview
The Global Category Buyer, Clinical and Medical is responsible for a multi-million clinical trials spend related to Clinical and Medical Services ranging from Phase I to IV trials to support Ipsen assets development across our three therapeutic areas. The role focuses on leading procurement strategy, supporting category management, and driving relationships with key suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Business Partnering : Partner with business stakeholders to gain visibility on the Clinical Development Plan and R&D/Medical trials portfolio; analyze spend and budget to identify procurement opportunities.
- Category Management : Implement category strategies, lead sourcing projects from need definition, cost analysis, negotiation strategy, and contract development; negotiate commercial conditions to secure contracts.
- Category Support : Oversee implementation of Research & Laboratory category plans; manage RFP processes, monitor MSA execution, and provide support for contractual or business litigations.
- Strategic Supplier Relationship Management : Build partnerships with strategic vendors, manage supplier interactions at therapeutic area/asset level, and prepare and steer supplier governance meetings.
- Contribute to the development and management of the procurement community; promote compliance of category strategies, processes, policies & tools; share best practices and participate in external networking.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business/management/procurement.
- Professional qualification in procurement (e.g., CIPS).
- Strong experience in procurement within an international, matrix environment and in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience with CROs, business development or customer delivery.
- Previous experience as CRA.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills in cross‑functional teams across multiple geographies.
- Proficiency in risk management and supplier relationship management.
- Project management skills: ability to manage projects, set clear goals, identify risks, and develop contingency plans.
- Data analysis and interpretation skills to translate findings into actionable business insights.
- Knowledge of markets and suppliers for specific categories.
- Fluency in English.
