Summary

Responsible for promoting and selling Pace Analytical services within an assigned territory, leveraging relationships and ensuring customer retention.

Essential Functions

  • Increase Market Share through new business growth and increase Wallet Share of existing customers in assigned territory.
  • Visit customer establishments to evaluate needs or to promote services as needed.
  • Maintain customer records using automated systems.
  • Negotiate prices or terms of sales or service agreements; quote prices, credit terms or other bid specifications.
  • Contact new or existing customers to discuss how specific products/services can meet their needs.
  • Provide intermediate to complex analysis, interpretation and counsel to customers, staff, management, and functional leaders regarding sales policies, programs and practices.
  • Provide guidance and develop recommendations on product/service features based on analyses of customers' needs and on technical knowledge of capabilities and limitations to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist with receiving customer feedback and coordinating resources and responses as required.
  • Analyze and review operations, results, feedback and related sales information on an ongoing basis to determine trends, draw conclusions, interpret findings, and present results, proposals and recommendations to customers or management.
  • Ensure the accuracy of intermediate to complex sales and operational databases, reports, and related details through audits, queries, and operational reviews; work with teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with developing sales or cross‑functional project or program objectives, which includes proposed budgets, timelines, materials, personnel, and other project requirements, receive direction and present information to management; may develop and manage areas that are moderate in scope or impact.
  • Interpret and apply department policies and procedures and assist with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; receive guidance within these areas as needed.
  • Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Promote and support the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; act in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, chemistry, operations, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of customer support experience, including experience with complex programs or operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

  • Valid Driver’s License

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Intermediate to complex principles, practices and techniques of sales effectiveness.
  • Various understanding of the administration and oversight of sales programs, policies and procedures.
  • Intermediate to complex methods to resolve sales and customer problems, questions and concerns.
  • Various understanding of applicable sales laws, codes and regulations.
  • Understanding of various testing tools, equipment, and processing.
  • Computer applications and systems related to the work.
  • Principles and practices to serve as an effective project team member.
  • Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers to ensure safe, effective and appropriate operations.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  • Perform intermediate to complex professional-level sales duties in a variety of assigned areas.
  • Oversee and administer various sales functions.
  • Train others in policies and procedures related to the work.
  • Serve as a team member and participate in the development and management of projects.

  • Prepare intermediate to complex account reports, correspondence and other written materials.

  • Use tact, discretion and prudence in working with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Perform effective oral presentations to large and small groups across functional peers and the department.
  • Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work‑unit goals, objectives and activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.
