Web Engineer

About the Team

You’ll be joining the JD.com team, which values collaboration, ownership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We have an exciting opportunity for a Web Engineer to join our growing technical team for Joybuy ( Joybuy is JD.com’s European full‑category online retail brand designed to bring customers a faster, more convenient, and cost-effective shopping experience. In this role, you will build and optimize user‑facing web experiences that support high‑traffic e‑commerce scenarios. You will work closely with product team back‑end engineers to deliver scalable, customer‑focused front‑end solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications and user‑facing features.
• Participate in requirement discussions, technical design, and code reviews.
• Optimize front‑end performance, stability, and usability across browsers and devices.
• Collaborate with back‑end engineers to integrate APIs and ensure reliable data flow.
• Deliver features according to requirements and agreed delivery timelines.
• Research and experiment with new technologies to support the evolution of front‑end engineering practices within the team.
• Work onsite in London, UK.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of front‑end web development experience using React or similar frameworks.
• Advanced knowledge in one or more programming languages, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS.
• Understanding of modern front‑end principles, including responsive design, component‑based architecture, and state management.
• Solid programming foundation with attention to code quality and maintainability.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Chinese.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with e‑commerce or high‑traffic consumer platforms.
• Familiarity with modern front‑end build tools, testing tools, workflows and practices.
• Experience working with international or distributed teams.
