Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner

ENGin pairs English-fluent volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian learners for weekly online conversation practice. Participants are matched 1-on-1 based on preferences, interests, and availability to ensure an effective and mutually enjoyable communication experience. After a match is made, ENGin supports learners and volunteers throughout their participation in the program with tips, resources, and problem resolution. We screen every learner and volunteer to ensure their fit for the program, and provide training and orientation.

Since launching in 2020, ENGin has connected over 26,000 Ukrainians with over 24,000 volunteers. 99% of our learners report breaking the language barrier after 3 months of participation in our program.

Ready to change a life from the comfort of home?

Join ENGin as a conversation partner and be matched with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one-on-one English conversations. In just one hour a week, you can help someone build confidence, break the language barrier, and feel supported, all while discovering a new culture and making a genuine human connection.

We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one‑hour videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll facilitate English practice for your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection.

Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 12 weeks.

No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. Our friendly team is available to support you throughout your time with us.
