VIP Seat Prototypist

Specialist responsible for creating the initial, prototype versions of aircraft seats and their components. This involves translating design concepts into tangible, functional prototypes, allowing for testing, refinement, and ultimately, the creation of the final, luxurious seating for high-end aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Translating Design: Work with designers, engineers, and clients to understand the desired aesthetics, comfort, and functionality of the seats.
• Material Selection and Fabrication: Experiment with different materials, like leather, fabrics and foams, shape and combine them to create prototypes that meet the design specifications.
• 3D Modeling and Prototyping: Knowledge in 3D modeling software to create digital template.
• Testing and Refinement: Conduct testing on the prototypes, including comfort assessments and fit checks, to identify areas for improvement and ensure the final product meets the highest standards.
• Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with other team members, including designers, engineers and production staff, to ensure the prototype is accurately translated into a final, manufacturable product.
• Problem Solving: Play a vital role in identifying and addressing any design or manufacturing challenges that arise during the prototyping phase.

Qualifications

• Upholstery apprenticeship completed or equivalent certificate or diploma.
• Working experience in a similar position (5+ years).
• Experience in Aviation Industry as a plus.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings / technical instructions and technical processes.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout all duties.
• Good English skills (verbal and written), French as a plus.
• Flexibility, ability to work in a team.
