About the Role:
A Vice President (VP) takes the lead on multiple cases and workstreams, developing analytical and strategic approaches with limited input from the Expert on the case. The VP regularly stands in for the Expert, contributing meaningfully to case strategy and demonstrating good commercial judgement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take the lead on cases and workstreams, developing a robust analytical approach with limited guidance from Experts.
- Oversee the design and execution of analysis to support the strategic aims of cases, critically assessing output and ensuring accuracy.
- Manage client contact on all significant matters, including determining how to address any significant client issues that arise.
- Manage projects in a commercial and pragmatic manner, maintaining awareness of scope, budget, and client expectations.
- Keep the Expert regularly updated on project status, developments, and any significant issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Independently devise and draft expert reports summarising analysis, delegating sections of analysis and reviewing them as required.
- Provide extensive mentoring and supervision to junior staff.
- Participate in thought leadership and knowledge-sharing activities.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
- Ph.D. in economics, ideally with a focus on industrial organisation or applied econometrics, or a Master's/Bachelor's in economics and several years of experience in competition economics at Senior Economist level.
- A deep understanding of detailed concepts in economic theory and their application to competition cases.
- A good understanding of relevant quantitative techniques.
- Proven experience as a team leader on projects and in supervising juniors performing specific analysis.
- Experience drafting technically accurate, concise, and user‑friendly memos, summaries, short reports, exhibits, and presentations.
- Experience managing client contact on projects.
