UX Designer for HRI & HCI F/M
The Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) team at NAVER LABS Europe takes a human-centered approach to the study of robotic platforms and services. Our work addresses the challenges of autonomous technologies in real environments, where robots and AI agents must be understandable, trustworthy, and effective collaborators for the people they interact with. Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise in Human–Robot Interaction (HRI), Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), interaction design, robotics, and Computer Science. Through collaborations with robotics, machine learning, and development teams across NAVER LABS, researchers can connect fundamental research questions with operational systems and emerging AI-driven services. Researchers have the opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary research and contribute to the next generation of autonomous AI and robotic systems.
The position
We're looking for a UX Designer to join the Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) team and contribute to the design and evaluation of interaction mechanisms for autonomous robotic and AI systems.
Your activities may include :
- Conduct user-centered research to understand how people interact with robots, AI agents, and service platforms.
- Translate user needs, workflows, and interaction requirements into interaction concepts, user experiences, and technical specifications.
- Design interaction mechanisms for embodied robotic systems and digital AI platforms, including multimodal interaction, interfaces, workflows, and agent-based interactions.
- Develop prototypes and design artifacts to explore and communicate interaction concepts.
- Contribute to the evaluation of interactive systems through user studies and experiments in realistic contexts.
What we're looking for
Required qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Interaction Design, Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), Human–Robot Interaction (HRI), Design Research, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design methods and interaction design processes.
- Experience designing interactive systems, digital products, or AI-enabled experiences. Experience with UI design tools.
- Experience conducting user studies, usability evaluations, or behavioral experiments.
- Portfolio demonstrating interaction design processes, prototypes, or research-driven design projects.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with designing multimodal interactions, conversational agents, or embodied interactions.
- Experience with front-end development or prototyping using AI coding tools.
- Ability to bridge interaction design and implementation in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Interest in bridging research, design, and real-world deployment of autonomous systems.
