Transmission Engineer - Optical(DWDM, OTN)

We are looking for a Transmission Engineer (DWDM, OTN) to join our technical team, in a hybrid role based in Paris and its surrounding area. This position is suited for a professional eager to take part in the design, deployment, and optimization of next-generation optical transport networks.

Success in this role relies on strong technical expertise in DWDM/OTN, methodical rigor in analyzing and solving complex problems, and a solid ability to collaborate with technical teams and clients in a demanding environment. This position sits at the core of the organization, providing direct support to network infrastructure transformation and evolution projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and integrate optical transmission solutions (DWDM/OTN) to meet network evolution needs.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical issues related to optical networks.
• Use network planning tools to design and size optical architectures.
• Perform fiber optic characterization (FOC) and conduct tests using specialized equipment (OTDR, OSA, BERT, power meter).
• Ensure clear and rigorous technical documentation throughout projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to anticipate risks and propose suitable solutions.
• Contribute to end-to-end architectures and provide methodological support to relevant teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience (4 to 10 years) in optical network engineering (DWDM/OTN); knowledge of SONET/SDH is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in the installation, integration, and migration of optical platforms.
• Familiarity with network planning and design tools.
• Experience with optical test equipment (OTDR, OSA, BERT, power meter) and fiber characterization (FOC).
• Experience with multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, Ciena, Infinera, NEC, ZTE, etc.) is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and conflict resolution.
• Ability to work autonomously, with a strong sense of initiative and technical leadership.
• Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
