TENURE TRACK POSITION IN PLASMA-CATALYSIS (M/W)
Title
TENURE TRACK POSITION IN PLASMA-CATALYSIS (M/W)
Overview
Mines Paris-PSL is one of the most prestigious engineering schools in France. Mines Paris-PSL is a public institution that trains generalist engineers through an innovative and multidisciplinary educational approach (engineering sciences and social sciences and humanities). Its affiliation with PSL University, which ranks among the top 50 in international rankings, represents a real opportunity to enrich academic paths.
Mission
The PERSEE Centre is based in Sophia Antipolis. It is one of the 18 research centres at Mines Paris PSL and one of the four centres in the institution's Energy and Processes Department. Its activity focuses on new energy technologies and renewable energies, centred on three key themes: Materials and Processes for Energy, Thermochemistry and Plasmas, Integration of Renewable Energies and Electrification Management.
Within this framework, the ‘Thermochemistry and Plasmas’ (TeP) group is looking for a junior researcher in plasma catalysis with excellent knowledge of both catalytic chemistry and cold plasma chemistry for its activities in the ‘non-thermal plasmas’ area.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and undertake laboratory experiments, requiring solid skills in handling analytical instruments for physics and chemistry.
- Develop special catalysts in the laboratory; experience in preparing special catalysts is indispensable.
- Perform advanced physical-chemical modelling of plasma catalysis; proven proficiency in numerical modelling of plasma catalysis processes is essential.
- Supervise students, including acting as a thesis advisor for PhD students and jointly supervising experiments in the area of nonthermal plasma.
- Monitor research projects and report on studies.
- Write scientific articles and ensure scientific communication, including participation at conferences.
- Contribute to nonthermal plasma laboratory security.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in chemistry or physics on a subject related to plasma catalysis is mandatory.
- One or more post‑doctoral experiences in plasma catalysis would be highly appreciated.
- Excellent knowledge and solid skills in catalytic chemistry (design and laboratory preparation of catalysts, catalyst characterization, surface chemistry, experimental investigation of heterogeneous catalysts, thermocatalysis).
- Solid knowledge of cold plasma chemistry (experimental and numerical).
- Proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques (spectroscopy, spectrometry, chromatography, BET, XPS, RDX, MEB, MET, TPD).
- Sound general knowledge of process engineering.
- Both social skills necessary for teamwork and scientific skills of a very high level, combined with genuine enthusiasm for lab‑based field work.
Benefits
- Joining a prestigious institution with a rich history.
- Contributing to the digital transition and the transition to carbon neutrality to tackle the climate emergency.
- Being part of PSL University, ranked 34th in the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
- Mines Paris-PSL is committed to supporting and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion through an open and transparent recruitment process.
- Mines Paris-PSL is also committed to promoting the professional integration and career development of people with disabilities.
EEO Statement
