About CentraleSupélec

CentraleSupélec is a leading French 'Grande École' and a public research university. It operates under the joint authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Industry. Its core missions include educating high-level generalist engineers, conducting cutting-edge research in engineering and systems sciences, and providing continuing professional education programs. As part of its ongoing development, CentraleSupélec is looking for an Assistant Professor to join the SHS department and carry out research in the Laboratory of Industrial Engineering.

The contract is for five years with the possibility of becoming a permanent contract after evaluation.

The SHS department brings together permanent teaching staff in the humanities and social sciences, as well as in economics and management, to ensure the training of responsible, civic-minded engineers capable of dealing with complexity and uncertainty and innovating in multiple and changing contexts. SHS courses are designed to develop a reflective/critical mindset in engineering students and support their future actions. They include discipline-specific teaching and contributions to multidisciplinary education.

The Laboratory of Industrial Engineering studies production, activity, or socio‑technical systems along their life cycles. These activities are organized around four research teams: Design Engineering (DE), Operations Management (OM), Sustainable Economy Research Group (SERG), Risk Resilience and Reliability (R3).

Teaching responsibilities

The Associate Professor will join CentraleSupélec, SHS department and contribute to their pedagogical expertise across the existing engineering cycle (second‑year courses), research master’s programs (M1 and M2), and Bachelor’s programs (B1 to B4).

Teaching experience at these different levels would be appreciated.

These programs require teaching in the form of lectures and tutorials in energy economics, economics and management of innovation, economics of decarbonized transport. The ability to teach in both English and French is required.

Research responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to contribute to and strengthen the research activities of Sustainable Economy Research Group (SERG) of LGI in the fields of energy economics, mobility economics, and innovation management applied to energy markets.

In addition, the candidate will play an active role in laboratory life and help structure research activities with national and international visibility, including the organization of conferences, workshops, and doctoral events.

Strong multidisciplinary research output, particularly in collaboration with engineering sciences (e.g., publications, conference presentations, participation in research networks…), as well as the ability to develop research partnerships with industry, will be highly valued.

The Associate Professor will fully participate in the management of the EMSI Chair (Energy Markets and Sustainable Industries), jointly run by CentraleSupélec, EDF, RTE, Deloitte, and Stellantis, focusing on energy markets and industrial decarbonization challenges.

In this context, research experience at the intersection of these themes, combining techno‑economic modeling and industrial realities, would be a significant asset for recruitment related to the development of the Chair’s activities.
