The Tender Specialist is responsible for crafting competitive, pricing-based air freight bid offers. The role is centered on dissecting business requirements and bidding instructions, managing internal stakeholders, and collaborating closely with opportunity owners.
Key priorities for the Tender Specialist include maintaining high proposal quality, ensuring compliance and timeliness, evaluating market competitiveness, and conducting yield and risk analysis. As functional leaders within the bidding process, Tender Specialists contribute to performance reporting, team development, workflow optimization, and internal tool facilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Bid & Project Management: Lead the planning, organization, direction, and delivery of complex, large-scale global logistics RFQs.
- Internal Coordination: Schedule and facilitate internal communication milestones for each bid (e.g., kick-off meetings, strategy review calls, risk assessments).
- Pricing Architecture: Define and communicate pricing instructions, rate structures, and strategy to internal stakeholders.
- Quality Control & Execution: Perform rigorous data sanity checks, resolve discrepancies, manage version control, execute additional pricing rounds, and ensure complete and timely bid submission.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Align organizational objectives with customer requirements by analyzing rate data from global pricing colleagues and integrating inputs from Finance, Legal, HR, and Commercial teams.
- Executive Presentations: Present finalized pricing models and bid strategies to senior leadership and executive management for final sign-off.
- Reporting & Optimization: Track performance metrics, maintain active pipeline reports, update RFQ statuses, and proactively recommend process improvements.
- Enablement & Training: Train internal counterparts and stakeholders on tender tools, resources, and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (e.g., Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration).
- Core Proficiency: High fluency in Business English, standard office software suites, freight forwarding operations, and global logistics/transportation.
- Technical Skills: Advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills (e.g., advanced MS Excel).
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in logistics pricing, procurement, tender management, product development, inside sales, or freight forwarding operations.
- Environment: Proven experience working with cross‑functional teams, multicultural environments, and project-based workflows.
- Languages: Proficiency in additional global languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish) is highly desirable.
Note: This role can be based in: Spain, Czechia, Portugal or France.
