General Mission
Conduct and support early toxicology and preclinical pharmacokinetic studies.
Responsibilities
- Follow study protocols provided by the Study Director.
- Contribute to the procurement of animals, consumables, and test compounds required for preclinical studies.
- Take responsibility for study preparation: prepare formulations, identify containers dedicated to the collection of biological matrices, tissues, or organs, and provide paper or electronic documentation dedicated to raw data collection and processing.
- Perform animal randomization based on body weight.
- Monitor animals during studies according to protocol requirements and verify environmental study data.
- Administer test compounds to animals in accordance with study protocol requirements and under the supervision of the Study Director.
- Collect and prepare biological matrices, tissues, and organs in accordance with study protocol requirements.
- Take responsibility for or contribute to the development of new sampling, collection, or dosing techniques while ensuring animal welfare.
- Depending on qualifications, be responsible for and contribute to the implementation of surgical techniques to meet protocol requirements and support the development of new animal models.
- Contribute to the technical support of efficacy studies or early toxicology studies.
- Process data collected during the in-life phase and format it for use by the Study Director in the preparation of study reports.
- Report activities and maintain required tools: collect all information necessary to support departmental or organizational operational metrics; record completed tasks and individual activity data using approved forms or designated software; record animal management data in the laboratory animal management software used within the department.
- Comply with and apply laboratory procedures: use laboratory animals in accordance with applicable regulations, AAALAC recommendations, and company guidelines relating to this activity; ensure the proper use of equipment.
- Support the onboarding and training of new employees.
- Contribute to the implementation of animal care, enrichment, and hygiene programs within the animal facility during weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.
- Serve as a member of the Animal Welfare Body (AWB) or the Ethics Committee.
- Contribute to or lead continuous improvement projects, benefiting from Lean methodology tools.
- Carry out activities in compliance with applicable quality procedures and with current health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) requirements.
Qualifications
- Skills in laboratory animal science.
- Knowledge of laboratory animal biology and animal welfare regulations.
- Knowledge of pharmacokinetics.
- Proficiency in computer tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and software related to equipment operation).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, autonomy, teamwork, and dynamism.
Experience and Education
- FunctionA certification or FELASAB certification – Laboratory Animal Use and Protection – FunctionA.
- Experience in laboratory animal techniques.
