What the job involves
- As part of the Product & Program team, we're looking for an individual to take on the role of Technical Product Owner with a strong Data & Analytics focus.
- This position combines the technical depth of an Analytics Engineer with the coordination and communication responsibilities of a TPO
- You will act as the key interface between business teams and our data & engineering teams, ensuring that the data we produce is reliable, well‑modeled, and directly usable in reporting tools
- You speak the same language as our Software, Data, and Devops Engineers: to understand the different components of a software system, you exchange very regularly with them to gather insight, understand needs and coordinate amongst the different engineering teams
- You understand and know our end‑users: beyond being completely fluent in software terminology and concepts, you also understand what the end‑users need to accomplish their missions
- You co‑define the project roadmap & manage a project backlog
- You guarantee smooth communication amongst the different engineering teams and end‑users, gathering feedback, tracking bug resolution and sharing a transparent backlog
- You carry the product vision within Descartes: you have to communicate internally about your products, their evolutions and the vision they carry
- You design and maintain data models in interaction with the data engineering team, respecting the business view of Finance, Risk, Actuarial and other business domains, following dbt best practices
- You streamline the data ecosystem by auditing legacy reports to integrate their logic into a high‑quality, SLA‑governed core data mart, while collaborating with business teams to replace manual workflows with automated dashboard
- You drive the adoption of modern data tooling across both Business Analysts, supporting them in building their analyses, and Data Analysts, overseeing their migration to new workflows
- You expand the data catalog by evaluating and onboarding new data sources into the data warehouse, ensuring they meet quality and integration standards before exposure to downstream consumers
- Your missions will evolve in the future as Descartes is growing fast and many exciting projects are waiting for you. It's a unique opportunity to take a closer look inside a fast‑growing scale‑up with huge ambitions!
