Technical Expert
Based in Sophia-Antipolis, French Riviera
We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to join ETSI’s Software and Standards group (SNS) within the Standardisation Services Division. The SNS team focuses on building, driving, and promoting Software Development Groups (SDG), which are highly strategic collaborative software development initiatives in support of standardisation, following open‑source best practices. Each SDG has its own community of representatives, developers and decision makers, from 20-25 different organisations.
Missions
The SNS Technical Expert provides technical expertise, community and project management to several ETSI Software Development Groups working in collaborative software development and open‑source initiatives.
The SNS Technical Expert assumes the following key responsibilities:
- Support and manage software development activities in the SDG.
- Set up and manage SDG infrastructure, tools, and processes.
- Organise and facilitate SDG meetings and developer events.
- Support collaboration and regular feedback across SDGs and standardisation groups at ETSI.
- Foster synergies with European research initiatives.
- Build technical competence for open‑source development methodologies and best practices.
- Disseminate and promote SDG work, to foster global community growth.
The SNS Technical Expert reports to the Director of Software and Standards. The position requires international travel.
Profile
Candidatures are particularly welcome from candidates having the following profile:
- Master’s degree in engineering or computer science.
- Experience in participating in Open‑Source projects and/or standardisation groups and/or Funded EU Research projects.
- Good general knowledge of standardised networking architectures, technologies, and APIs: 5G, NFV, SDN, Cloud, Edge, Data, AI …
- User‑level knowledge of Linux, OpenStack, Proxmox, and/or Kubernetes.
- Project leadership skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent oral and written English.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
The post will be based at our headquarters located in Sophia‑Antipolis, a lung of greenery between Cannes and Nice.
